Our Trip To Nebraska

The last time I wrote in my blog about our trip to Nebraska our town got blown away the next week (see my first post in June). Hopefully it goes a little smoother this time.

We went back to celebrate my niece's 1st birthday. Anytime we go home, Mackenzie and Jace love to go out to my brother's farm and mess around. Usually we ride go-carts, but we took another step up and drove around the tractor I used to drive around when I was in high school (yes, I did work on a farm for those of you who don't believe it).

Mackenzie liked it so much that she even dressed up in her cousin's cowboy gear and showed off her roping skills.

Mackenzie's 4th Birthday

This is a little late because we lost our camera import cord, but better late than never, right?

Mackenzie's 4th birthday parties were a hit, as she had friends come over Saturday and family on Sunday. If it were up to her it would have lasted an entire week, but one weekend would have to do. She and Jace both had a lot of fun.

It was a princess theme. Needless to say we tried to keep Jace as far away from the pink crowns as possible!

What a shrimp!

This gumball machine was one of her favorite gifts. Unfortunately it's now all she wants when she goes to her room!

Yes, we know you're 4!

Family Photo Outtakes

I took Mackenzie and Jace's 4-year and 2-year photos this weekend. A couple of years ago we decided that I could do just as good as Sears without the hourlong wait that always came with going there. This year we just drove around town and tried to find some spots that would work.

We managed to find a few good ones out of the bunch, but there were a lot more like these.

Knock/knock jokes were the only thing that got Mackenzie to smile naturally, but sometimes the laugh was a little too big.

That same thing could be said about Jace.

This is Mackenzie's official "ornery" look.

Unfortunately this was one of the best ones we took of both of them together!

Guess what Mackenzie was saying here. I don't remember for sure, but I'm sure it included the words "Jace Jordan!" followed by some kind of motherly statement like, "If you don't start smiling we will just get in the car and go home!"

Needless to say I was glad when the photo shoot was over!

CHN Music Video

This is a music video that one of my Journalism students made for our first broadcast of "Chapman High News." It was very well put together and I have had many requests to see it, so I decided to put in on our blog. It shows the difference between the schools and town from pre- to post-tornado. Kind of depressing, but from a historical standpoint it was very necessary.
